So Jared may have messed up on this one. Clipping and picturing time can be pretty hectic and we were all split in different directions. We hadn’t picked all the sale animals and Grace had to take Senior pictures for someone. Grace told Jared she didn’t care which young doe to put in the sale except for one that had a specific streak down her face. Well Jared picked a doe, clipped it beautifully, feeling pretty proud of himself for his accomplishment and called it a night. Fast forward to the next morning for picture time. Jared found out how back he messed up because that was the one doe that was off limits!!! UNTIL NOW!!! Due to Jared’s mistake and us not having enough time to clip and picture another one we bring you Grace’s pick of the pen. Now this doe doesn’t have any hair but my lord would you evaluate her. She is big and up fronted, big forearm, extremely long, big hipped, a lot of inner leg muscle, and wide tracking on those back wheels. I can see why this was Grace’s pick and I can envision her being an absolute beast of a doe when she reaches a year old. Bite good, pigment good, teats are 2x2 clean, 100% show correct and should be shown.

Humble Pie – It’s no secret that dapples have come a long way in a short time. I swore from the beginning that I’d only raise goats I like, be blind to the wrapper they come in, because after all…. I’m the one paying the feed bill. Picturing for folks has also allowed me to see lots of bloodlines and lots of offspring from all kinds. When I see a pattern, I tend to take heed. Her sire is one that I took a shining to most of his kids I pictured at Ryan Careys. It was a no brainer that he was the dapple buck I needed for Biscuit. Humble Pie is the first dapple doe ever to be offered off our firm. She has a lot of pieces we look for in our breeding stock, no matter the color – Level and wide top, correct feet and legs, a big ol booty, and a lot eye appeal. This one is good regardless of color!

4-L Boer Goats Final Drive is an overall very complete doe from nose to tail with very few flaws. As I sat there clipping her out, oblivious to who she was out of, I kept thinking she had to have some Yeti or Strategic Power blood in her. I say this because I loved her front two thirds of her body and that lineage is known to throw big bodies and cool fronted animals. When I dug into the paperwork I was ecstatic to discover that she indeed goes back to both of those bucks as well as Reyzer Sharp and American Idol. She will be a hard one to replicate in the future.
